What's a Cuban?

So while I was in the middle of some really horrible traffic while driving home today (because of the snow), Joe calls me on my cell and says to me, "Babe, I'm gonna make Cuban Sandwiches for dinner tonight." Mmmm, Cuban Sandwiches... Wait. I've never had a Cuban Sandwich before. I've heard about them and I've seen them on TV but never have I tasted a Cuban. I'm really excited about eating this flavorful sandwich!

So what exactly is a Cuban Sandwich? Simple. It is made up of ham, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard, strategically arranged on Cuban bread and finished on a panini press then sliced on a bias. Yummy! I can't wait!

Babe did an awesome job.. Bread was nice and toasted, and the pickles and mustard complimented the ham. I'm so glad and lucky that Joe used to be a chef... Now I'm gonna do my happy girlfriend dance.

Snow. Yet again.

It's funny how we live in the East Coast, particularly the Washington, DC area, and snow is always a hit or miss. We've had a lot of snow this season (probably because we barely had some last year) and yet people seem to always be surprised: "It's snowing!" Ok, so maybe I'm one of those people...

I had to work today and see some patients (did I mention that I'm a Home Health therapist?) because I skipped out this past Tuesday because of, yes, the snow. Now here I am, having to cancel 3 of my 5 patients because there is no way in hell I'm gonna be able to make it home alive if I drive around in this condition. Weather man said 3 inches of snow...yeah, right. In a matter of 2 hours, it's already up to 8 inches. Spring, where are you? In my opinion, this is all the groundhog's fault.

Night time thoughts

Ok, so I'm back to blogging about life... Particularly mine. Why, you ask, am I blogging about this? Well, in my opinion, I think my life is.. Well.. typical life. And that in itself is sometimes funny, sometimes exciting, sometimes boring, sometimes touching, sometimes exhilarating, sometimes frustrating, and sometimes satisfying. The description of my blog talks about friends, life, relationships, love, family and of course, food.

It's 12:04am and I'm contemplating on whether or not I should keep watching 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives'... I have to work tomorrow since I took off a day this week because of the snow (yes, I'm paying for it by working on a Saturday)  but watching my honey sleeping soundly right next to me is tempting me to shut off the TV and call it a night.. Ugh, damn you snow! Now my weekend's screwed because I played hooky mid-week because of the weather! Curses!

So now I'm under the blankets (2 thick ones) because our ceiling fan is on. Yes. It's the dead of winter with an outside temperature of 9 degrees and our ceiling fan is on. Why? Because this guy who is sleeping so soundly beside me can't sleep without that wind that the fan brings. My feet are like pink popsicles. See, this is what I think: if he wants the fan on, then it should be ok for me to stick my icy, cold tootsies under his legs to keep them warm (hehehe). I wonder what would happen if I put my cold hands around him? Hmmm....
